From Businessman to Monk: The Inspiring Journey of “Dad Wu

12 years ago, Wu Bing was a successful businessman with a thriving cotton factory in Nantong, China. However, his marriage was falling apart and he eventually divorced, leading him to become a monk. He sold his factory, left the city and moved to a temple in the mountains of Fujian province in search of peace.

However, Wu’s journey took an unexpected turn when he discovered that the isolated temple was a center for pregnant women with personal problems, many of whom had been abandoned by their partners or were facing financial difficulties. Moved by their plight, Wu opened a free shelter within the temple to support these women throughout their pregnancies and help them care for their newborns.

Word quickly spread about Wu’s shelter and more and more women came seeking assistance. However, this did not sit well with the abbot of the temple who expelled Wu from the premises. Undeterred, Wu moved to a villa in Zhejiang where he continued his work with pregnant women and single mothers.

Through social media and online platforms, Wu shared his story and garnered support from donors and volunteers across the country. Since then, he claims to have rescued over 600 single women who became pregnant but could not support their children. He has become known as “Dad Wu” and continues to provide support and care for vulnerable women in need.

Wu’s inspiring story has captured the attention of the Chinese media and garnered widespread recognition for his selfless dedication to helping others. His work is truly remarkable and serves as an example of how one person can make a significant difference in the lives of others.
