From DeSoto to the NFL: Byron Murphy II’s Journey to Seattle Seahawks

Byron Murphy II recently spoke with Brock and Salk on Seattle Sports 710AM about his experience with the draft, college, and growing up in DeSoto, Texas. After being selected by the Seattle Seahawks at No. 16, Byron joined the show to discuss waking up after being drafted and how it felt like a blessing. He expressed excitement about living out his dream and being part of the Seahawks team.

Growing up in DeSoto, Texas, Byron described a community that is highly focused on football. The town is known for producing top talent in the sport, including players like Von Miller. After graduating from high school, Byron spent three years playing football at Texas before graduating early due to his college classes taken as early as high school. His accumulated college credit positioned him as a junior in the classroom during his freshman year at Texas.

Looking ahead to his future with the Seahawks, Byron acknowledged that there are similarities between his role at Texas and the duties at the Seattle team. The d-line coach sees him playing as a three-tech, a position he has experience with and feels comfortable in. Byron expressed enthusiasm about playing for the Seahawks and believes it is the best fit for him based on his skill set and abilities.

Overall, Byron’s journey from DeSoto to becoming a professional football player with the Seattle Seahawks is a testament to hard work and dedication. His ability to graduate early from college while also excelling in football highlights his unique talents and skills that make him an asset to any team he joins.
