From Hall of Famer’s grandson to Browns’ newest offensive lineman: Wyatt Davis signs with Cleveland

Wyatt Davis signed by Browns, Jayden Peevy released

The Browns made a roster move on Friday by signing offensive guard Wyatt Davis. In order to add Davis to the roster, the team waived defensive tackle Jayden Peevy. Notably, Davis has football in his blood as his grandfather is Pro Football Hall of Famer Willie Davis.

Davis was originally drafted by the Vikings in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft, but since entering the league he has appeared in a total of nine games with four different teams: the Vikings, Giants, Saints, and Cardinals. Last season, he was on injured reserve with the Giants. On the other hand, Peevy had signed a futures contract with the Browns after last season and initially entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Titans in 2022. He has played in two games for the Titans and has spent time on both their practice squads as well as that of the Panthers. Ultimately, Peevy’s roster spot was sacrificed to make room for Davis on the Browns’ roster.
