From NFL Superstar to MMA Champ: Greg Hardy’s Journey in Combat Sports

Greg Hardy suffers knockout defeat in a Texas boxing match

Greg Hardy, the former NFL pass rusher, has recently ventured into the world of combat sports. He has made appearances in boxing and MMA events in recent years. Hardy had a successful start in professional boxing, posting a 3-0 record before being knocked out by Patrick Mailata in a Texas Combat League match. Prior to this, he had participated in MMA events and had a 7-5 record before being released by the UFC in 2022. In 2023, he was knocked out in a bareknuckle boxing contest.

Hardy’s career in professional football ended after playing just one season with the Dallas Cowboys in 2015. Despite recording six sacks in 12 games during his time with the Cowboys, he was unable to continue his NFL career due to domestic violence allegations that surfaced in 2014. In that year, he recorded an impressive 13.0 sacks, but his off-the-field troubles ultimately led to his departure from the league. However, Hardy has since found success as a combat athlete and continues to compete today.
