Conor Shaughnessy, a former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international, has had stints at Leeds, Rochdale, and Burton in his career. Now a Portsmouth defender, Shaughnessy has signed a new three-year contract with the option for the club to extend it by an additional 12 months.
Last season, Shaughnessy started in 45 of Portsmouth’s 46 League One games, making a significant impact after his move from Burton Albion. Scoring four goals, including a crucial winner against Barnsley in April that secured promotion for the team, Shaughnessy’s contributions did not go unnoticed.
Pompey manager John Mousinho praised Shaughnessy’s performances and highlighted his inclusion in the League One Team of the Year and his crucial goals throughout the season.
