From Shaky Start to Strong Finish: Charlie Woods Qualifies for USGA Championship Event at Age 15

Charlie Woods, the son of golfing legend Tiger Woods, has recently qualified to compete in a USGA championship event for the first time. Out of 85 participants, Charlie was one of four qualifiers to advance after posting a top score of 1-under 71 at the Eagle Trace Golf Club in Coral Springs, Florida. Despite a rocky start with a bogey and a double-bogey on his first two holes, Woods rallied and carded five birdies and one bogey to finish 1-under par.

Reflecting on his performance, Charlie acknowledged his shaky start but was proud of his strong finish in the tournament. He shared that he hopes to follow in his father’s footsteps and win USGA championships, including the prestigious U.S. Open in the future.

Tiger Woods, the legendary golfer and father of Charlie, won the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship three times from 1991-93. He secured the first victory at the same age as Charlie, making him the tournament’s youngest-ever winner. Throughout his career, Tiger has won nine USGA championship events, including three U.S. Opens, three U.S. Amateur titles, and three U.S. Junior Amateur championships.

Charlie is currently a freshman in high school and has played alongside his father at the PNC Championship and often accompanies Tiger during his competitions
