Stanley P. Goldstein, a business pioneer and mentor, passed away at the age of 89. He played an integral role in the development of CVS Health Corp., which has become a key player in the healthcare industry. Karen Lynch, president and CEO of CVS Health, praised Goldstein as a caring leader whose customer-centric approach was a driving force behind the company’s success.
Goldstein, along with his brother Sid and partner Ralph Hoagland, opened the first Consumer Value Store in Lowell, Mass. in 1963. Through his leadership, the company expanded and diversified its offerings to include pharmacy, health, and beauty care. In 1996, CVS Health went public with Goldstein serving as its first chairman of the board until 1999. He remained on the board until 2007.
Today, CVS Health headquartered in Woonsocket, RI employs over 300 thousand colleagues including significant numbers of healthcare professionals. The company ranks No.5 on Progressive Grocer’s list of top food and consumables retailers in North America. Goldstein’s legacy continues to influence the company’s commitment to customer satisfaction and excellence in healthcare services.
