Gayle King Shocked to Discover She’s a Sports Illustrated Cover Star in the 60th Anniversary Edition

Gayle King’s response to Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover reveal: “This isn’t how I pictured myself”

Kate Upton and Hunter McGrady surprised Gayle King, co-anchor of “CBS Mornings,” during an interview on the show Tuesday morning. King was shocked to discover that she is one of the cover stars for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit’s special 60th anniversary edition. Upton handed her a copy of the magazine, mentioning that she had been told she would only be featured inside.

King expressed being speechless by the news and credited the photographer for guiding her every step of the way, from toe extension to finger position. “I just never saw myself this way. I still don’t see myself this way,” King stated. “But when I look at that…I go, I look damn good.” Nate Burleson, another co-anchor on “CBS Mornings,” congratulated King on officially becoming a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover girl, urging her to savor the moment as King looked at the cover. McGrady also praised King, noting that the cover image proves that sexiness is not defined by age or size, offering inspiration to women of all ages.

Tony Dokoupil added another surprise by revealing that King is also featured in the Sports Illustrated Legends edition. The four co-anchors congratulated and celebrated King on her achievement, with Dokoupil encouraging her to embrace her newfound confidence and use it as a platform to inspire others.
