Germany Continues Its Support for Ukraine with Delivery of New Patriot Air Defense Systems

Bundeswehr to be equipped with eight new Patriot systems

During a troop visit in Sanitz, Federal Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced that the Bundeswehr has received eight new Patriot air defense systems. The procurement contract for the first four systems has been triggered, with plans for another procurement template for four more Patriots in preparation. Delivery is expected to start in 2026, with the new purchases aimed at filling gaps resulting from the transfer of air defense systems to Ukraine.

The Bundeswehr units stationed in Sanitz are currently involved in training Ukrainian soldiers on the operation of Patriot systems. This military aid provided to Ukraine serves as an important sign of solidarity with the country as they face conflict with Russia. Germany has already delivered two Patriot systems to Ukraine and has promised a third, which is currently being delivered. These systems are crucial in protecting lives and critical infrastructure from Russian attacks.

Minister Pistorius praised the work of the soldiers involved and emphasized the importance of standing by Ukraine in their time of need. In addition to the military aid provided, the Bundeswehr’s efforts in training Ukrainian soldiers serve as an important sign of solidarity with the country.
