Giants Reportedly Anticipating Darren Waller’s Retirement

With the Giants’ mandatory minicamp fast approaching, Darren Waller’s future with the team remains uncertain. Sources have indicated that Waller is likely to retire before the upcoming minicamp, as reported by Jordan Raanan of ESPN. Although Waller himself has not confirmed his decision, those close to him believe that he is leaning towards retirement.

Throughout the offseason, Waller has been publicly contemplating retirement and has expressed his desire to make a decision before the end of the offseason program. The Giants’ mandatory minicamp is scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday of next week, where a final decision may be made. However, Waller has not been present for any voluntary activities during the offseason.

In preparation for Waller’s potential retirement, the Giants have been making moves at the tight end position. They drafted Theo Johnson in the fourth round and he has been getting first-team snaps during Phase III of the offseason program. Additionally, the team has other tight ends such as Daniel Ballinger, Lawrence Cager, Tyree Jackson, Chris Manhertz, and Jack Stoll on the roster. With Waller’s status uncertain, the Giants are focusing on building depth at the tight end position for the upcoming season.
