New York will host the Global Citizen NOW summit on May 1 and 2, bringing together a diverse group of political, business, and philanthropic leaders. This nonprofit event aims to garner support for workable solutions to address issues of food insecurity, climate change, and public health associated with extreme poverty. The summit will feature keynote speakers like Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh, Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi, and Verizon CEO Hans Vestberg. Actors Hugh Jackman, Danai Gurira, and Dakota Johnson will also be present alongside representatives from companies such as Cisco, Citi, Delta, and PayPal. The event will also include discussions led by Rockefeller Foundation President Rajiv Shah, Bezos Earth Fund CEO Andrew Steer, and Volker Türk, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.
