Shannon Smith, a private chef from Tulsa, has drawn inspiration from her travels around the world to write a cookbook that includes stories from her experiences. She began cooking around 20 years ago and has visited 53 countries. As she learned to cook and teach cooking classes, she made it a point to immerse herself in different cultures to understand how they prepare their food.
During her travels, Smith met people who shared their cultures and recipes with her. Over the span of six years, she documented these experiences along with pictures and recipes in her book. Each chapter in the book represents a different place where she has cooked, with only one chapter dedicated to the United States, specifically New Mexico.
Featuring 12 chapters, each containing 10 to 11 recipes, Smith’s cookbook is a reflection of the diverse cuisines she has encountered in her travels. She self-published the book, making it exclusively available for purchase on her website, chefshannon.com.
