Google’s Return to Page-Based Navigation: A Move Toward a More User-Friendly Online Experience

Google eliminates continuous scrolling feature in search results

Google has announced that it will be reintroducing page-based navigation in its search results, marking a departure from the continuous scrolling feature that was introduced on mobile devices in 2021. This change will first be implemented on the desktop version of Google, with users now able to navigate through search results using a ‘Next’ button.

Continuous scrolling automatically loaded search results from consecutive pages as the user scrolled, eliminating the need for manual navigation. However, Google has now decided to remove this feature, citing concerns about user satisfaction and speed of result display. The ‘Next’ button will allow users to quickly progress through search results without having to manually navigate through each page.

The move towards page-based navigation is part of Google’s ongoing efforts to create a more efficient and user-friendly online experience. Several examples of error messages and website links are displayed in the text, highlighting the importance of addressing common issues that users may encounter when navigating online. By implementing these changes, Google aims to improve the overall user experience and ensure that users see exactly what they are looking for.
