Hacker group LockBit 3.0 has announced an attack on KBC Zagreb, according to a recent post on Twitter by the X HackManac profile. This group is known for conducting ransomware attacks and demanding payment after the attack. KBC Zagreb has until July 18 to pay the unspecified amount requested by LockBit 3.0.
According to HackManac, based in Dubai, the hackers stole a wide range of data from the University Hospital Centre Zagreb (KBC Zagreb). This includes medical records, patient examinations, research papers of doctors, data on operations and organ donations, information from the tissue bank, employee data, donation records, business connections with private companies, and data on drug stocks.
HackManac provides detailed information on recent cyber attacks and frequently exposes the operations of ransomware gangs like LockBit 3.0 and BlackSuit. They also release regular reports summarizing cyber attacks from the previous week.
LockBit 3.0 is considered one of the most sophisticated and dangerous hacker groups focusing on ransomware attacks. They have adopted a Ransomware-as-a-Service (RaaS) model, making it easier for malicious actors with limited experience to carry out ransomware attacks. What sets LockBit 3.0 apart from other hacker groups is their advanced technical capabilities and adaptability in using both known software vulnerabilities and zero-day vulnerabilities to their advantage.
It’s important for organizations to take cybersecurity seriously and implement robust measures to prevent such attacks from happening in the future. Regular backups of critical data should be taken regularly and stored offsite or in a cloud service that is not vulnerable to hacks or breaches.
In conclusion, this incident highlights the importance of staying vigilant against cyber threats and taking proactive measures to protect sensitive information stored online or offline.
