Harnessing the Power of Photons: A Journey Through Science and Innovation with Dr. Krishna Rupavatharam

On April 24th at 6 p.m., Dr. Krishna Rupavatharam, the director of Montana State University’s Spectrum Lab, will be discussing photons and their applications to science and innovation at the Museum of the Rockies. This presentation is part of the Science Inquiry Series and is titled “Telecommunications to Teleportation: Making Light Work.”

Dr. Rupavatharam holds a Ph.D. in optical physics from the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, India. He has worked at the Lund Institute of Technology in Sweden and currently works at MSU Spectrum Lab. Additionally, he serves on the board of directors for the Montana Photonics and Quantum Alliance.

According to a press release from Gallatin Valley Friends of the Sciences on March 21, Dr. Rupavatharam will be sharing his experiences in photonics, which is the science of light. He will discuss how light can be manipulated for various applications such as remote sensing, holographic imaging, quantum teleportation, and communication.

The Science Inquiry Series talks are free and open to the public, sponsored by Gallatin Valley Friends of the Sciences and Hopa Mountain, and hosted by the Museum of the Rockies. Following Dr. Rupavatharam’s presentation, there will be a Q&A session where attendees can ask questions about photons and their applications in science and innovation.
