UTSA Public Health Jobs Panel Scheduled for April 3 | UTSA Today

HCAP’s annual Guerra lecture, held on Wednesday at UTSA, honors the legacy of Dr. Fernando A. Guerra, a renowned leader in public health and medicine who dedicated his career to improving the public health system. This year’s theme is “Public Health Journeys: Empowering Communities, Changing Lives.” As part of National Public Health Week from April 1 to April 7, UTSA hosts various events aimed at educating and guiding students towards health-related careers.

Theresa De La Haya, senior vice president of community health/clinical presentative programs at University Health System, will moderate a panel discussion during the Guerra lecture. The panel will feature Brian Castrucci, president and CEO of the de Beaumont Foundation; Dr. Lyssa Ochoa, vascular surgeon and founder of the San Antonio Vascular and Endovascular Clinic; and Phil Beckett, CEO of C3HIE. These organizations work together to improve healthcare for San Antonio residents by advancing policy, collaborating with primary care physicians and specialists, and providing patient-centered information services.

The panel discussion is part of HCAP’s Dean’s Community Lecture Series, which aims to engage faculty, staff, students, and the public in recognizing and addressing societal challenges related to public health and well-being. It is an excellent opportunity for the community to come together and discuss ways to improve public health outcomes through collaborative efforts between different organizations.

Overall, the Guerra lecture highlights the importance of recognizing the role that public health plays in shaping communities’ well-being. By honoring Dr. Guerra’s legacy and bringing together experts in various fields to discuss ways to improve public health outcomes
