How Expulsion of Imam Mahjoub Mahjoubi Halts Construction Sites in Provence Villas

Unfinished Homes: Owners Left Distressed as Collateral Victims of Imam Mahjoubi’s Expulsion

Keven Peuvrel had signed a contract for a 100 m2 detached house in Courthézon, in Vaucluse with Provence Villas, a company owned mostly by Mahjoub Mahjoubi (49%) and his wife (51%). However, on February 22, 2022, the former imam of the Atawba mosque in Bagnols-sur-Cèze (Gard) was expelled from the country due to accusations of radical preaching. The Ministry of the Interior had sent him back to Tunisia in an accelerated procedure.

As a result of the expulsion, Keven Peuvrel’s construction site came to a standstill along with ten other owners whose properties were also affected. According to Peuvrel, they were now collateral victims of the State’s decision regarding Imam Mahjoubi.
