How Scheduling Can Boost Your Success: Lessons from Bill Gates and Warren Buffett

Bill Gates recently revealed an important lesson he learned from fellow billionaire Warren Buffett about the importance of scheduling. The Microsoft founder used to schedule his day down to the minute, but after seeing Buffett’s intentionally light calendar, Gates realized that he didn’t have to fill every second of his schedule to be successful.

Gates admitted that in the past, he thought sleep was lazy and competed with colleagues to see who could get the least rest. However, now he sees the value in taking time for activities outside of work and not filling every minute of the day with performative tasks. Both Gates and Buffett believe that controlling time is key to success, as they have found a balance between work and personal time.

Buffett, CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, has long championed the idea of increasing productivity by decreasing busy work. Studies have shown that people who have the freedom to focus on creative work are happier, more productive, and more engaged at work. After seeing Buffett’s schedule, Gates made changes to his own calendar, allowing for more leisure time and activities he enjoys such as playing tennis, reading and spending time with family.

Both Gates and Buffett believe that finding a balance between work and personal time is important for overall success and well-being. By prioritizing self-care activities outside of work, individuals can recharge their batteries and come back to their jobs feeling refreshed and focused.
