In 2025, the world judo championships will be held in Budapest, Hungary. The announcement was made by IJF President Marius Vizer at the end of the Abu Dhabi World Championships 2024. The event is set to be a major post-Olympic year event and will follow the Olympic format with the individual tournament from June 13 to 19 and the mixed team tournament on June 20.

The Hungarian Judo Association and European Judo Union are excited about Budapest hosting the world judo championships in 2025. Dr. Lazlo Toth, president of the Hungarian Judo Association, shared his excitement about the upcoming competition, which will be the first major global competition after Paris 2024.

As the headquarters of the International Judo Federation is in Hungary, they are thrilled to bring together countries from around the world for this annual flagship event.
