Hurricanes and Sharks Make Big Moves in Free Agency: A Closer Look

The Hurricanes bolster their roster in free agency by signing Jack Roslovic to a 1-year contract

The Carolina Hurricanes are making waves in free agency, with new general manager Eric Tulsky leading the charge to add six new players. Among them is forward Jack Roslovic, who signed a one-year contract worth $2.8 million. With 234 points in 481 regular-season and playoff games with various teams, Roslovic brings a wealth of NHL experience to the team’s forward group.

Meanwhile, out West, the San Jose Sharks are also busy signing players. Two RFA forwards, Carl Grundstrom and Ty Dellandrea, have been added to the roster on two-year contracts. Grundstrom, acquired from the Los Angeles Kings, is expected to bring competitiveness and offensive skills to the lineup. Dellandrea, traded from the Dallas Stars, will add depth and versatility to the Sharks’ roster.

The Hurricanes have been hit hard by losses in free agency, losing key players such as Jake Guentzel, Teuvo Teravainen, and Brett Pesce. There is also uncertainty surrounding the future of restricted free agent Martin Necas, whose father has expressed a desire for a trade to seek a bigger role elsewhere. However, Tulsky remains optimistic about the team’s ability to make a playoff run under coach Rod Brind’Amour with the addition of these new players.
