South Florida Ice Hockey Fans Set for Exciting Season with Scripps Sports and Florida Panthers Partnership

Starting this fall, ice hockey fans in West Palm Beach, Miami/Fort Lauderdale, and Fort Myers will have the opportunity to catch all locally produced games of the Stanley Cup-champion Florida Panthers for free on their televisions. WHDT-TV, Channel 9, will broadcast the games to West Palm Beach residents, while WSFL-TV, Channel 39, will air the games in Miami/Fort Lauderdale. The channel for Fort Myers viewers will be announced before the next season.

Scripps Sports is now the new home on television for Florida Panthers hockey after signing a multiyear agreement with the team. This partnership is a significant milestone for Scripps Sports as they now have the ability to televise all locally produced Panthers games, including preseason, regular season, and round one games of the postseason.

Panthers President and CEO Matthew Caldwell expressed excitement about the partnership between his team and Scripps Sports. He believes that this collaboration will provide fans with more access to the team both on and off the ice. In addition to broadcasting games, Scripps Sports and the Panthers will launch a team-branded direct-to-consumer application and co-produce a weekly Panthers program. This collaboration aims to provide fans with more ways to engage with their favorite team.

Brian Lawlor, president of Scripps Sports, emphasized the importance of making all locally broadcast games available to Panthers fans on various platforms, including free over-the-air TV. He believes that this partnership is an excellent opportunity for both Scripps Sports and Florida Panthers to reach a wider audience while providing fans with more opportunities to enjoy their favorite sport.
