In a thrilling match on Saturday, India emerged victorious over South Africa by just seven runs to claim their second T20 World Cup title. This win marks a significant moment for the Indian team, as they had lost the finals of two major tournaments – The World Test Championship and ODI World Cup – in the past year.
The victory in the T20 World Cup may seem like redemption for the Men in Blue, especially after their loss in the 50-over World Cup final to Australia just seven months ago. However, India coach Rahul Dravid was quick to downplay any talk of redemption. He stated that he doesn’t dwell on such narratives and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to coach the team.
Dravid highlighted that there were many players who had not yet won a trophy and praised them for their hard work and dedication. He expressed his enjoyment of working with Rohit Sharma and the team, stating that coaching was just a job he loved doing.
Following India’s triumph in the T20 World Cup, Dravid confirmed that his contract as head coach of the Indian team had come to an end. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will now begin searching for a new coach to lead the team in future tournaments.
