India’s Triumph in T20 World Cup Earns Them Historic Bonus of INR 125 Crore and More!

India’s victory in the T20 World Cup has brought a lot of excitement to cricket fans all over the world. The team’s outstanding achievement was celebrated by many, including the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Following their win, the BCCI announced that they would be awarding the winning squad with a bonus of INR 125 crore (approximately USD 15 million). This was in addition to the cash prize of USD 2.45 million that had already been announced by the ICC for the winners of the tournament.

The ICC also announced additional cash prizes for each match won by teams throughout the tournament, excluding only the semi-finals and finals. The total prize money for this year’s T20 World Cup more than doubled from USD 5.6 million in 2022 to USD 11.25 million in 2024, ensuring that all participating teams would receive an increase in awards.

South Africa, as runners-up, received USD 1.28 million, while Afghanistan and England were awarded USD 787,500 each as losing semi-finalists. This meant that players and teams would be receiving more prize/participation money from this tournament than ever before.

Board secretary Jay Shah praised India’s exceptional talent, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. He congratulated all players, coaches, and support staff on their outstanding achievement and thanked them for bringing glory to their country and sport.
