Influenza A(H9) Confirmed in Vietnam: First Case of Its Kind in the Region

In Tien Giang, a 37-year-old male patient tested positive for influenza A/H9, making him the first case of its kind in Vietnam. He presented with symptoms of fever and pneumonia on March 10th and was subsequently admitted to the Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ho Chi Minh City on March 16th. Test results confirmed that he had influenza A with genetic segments similar to influenza A virus H9. The patient is currently receiving treatment and being monitored for any close contacts.
