Innovative Minds on Display: Garden City High School’s Science Research Symposium

Science Research Symposium hosted by GCHS

The annual Science Research Symposium at Garden City High School honored the outstanding achievements of its science research students on May 29. The event, which was held in the high school library, featured presentations, awards, and guest speakers to recognize the students’ hard work and dedication.

The evening kicked off with a Student Poster Reception where attendees got to view the students’ research projects while enjoying refreshments. Dr. Steven Gordon introduced the guest speaker, Dr. Ramana V. Davuluri, a professor at Stony Brook University, who delivered a talk on the role of artificial intelligence in biomedical research.

Some of the highlights of the awards presented at the symposium included James Nagler receiving the First-Place Grand Award at the Long Island Science & Engineering Fair, Mannat V. Jain earning the Second-Place Grand Award at the same fair, Amy Hong Xiao winning the First-Place Grand Award in biochemistry at the New York State Science & Engineering Fair, and more.

In addition to these awards, two students from Garden City Middle School were recognized as winners of the Student Spaceflight Experiments Program – Anjali Motwani and Tanya Oza. The school district expressed its gratitude to Garden City Friends of STEAM for their generous funding and contributions that made this event possible.

Overall, this event was a celebration of hard work and dedication by these talented students in pursuit of scientific knowledge and innovation.
