Ireland Pulls Off Last-Gasp Victory Against Georgia in Under-20 World Championship

Ireland claimed a last-gasp victory against Georgia in the Under-20 World Championship, with a try from Finn Treacy securing their hard-fought win. Despite leading 12-6 at halftime, Ireland had to fight off a resilient Georgia side who took the lead in the closing stages. This marked Ireland’s second victory in Pool B after defeating Italy in their opening game.

In preparation for their final Pool game against Australia, Ireland made some changes to their lineup with Max Flynn and Ruben Moloney making their Under-20 debuts. The game started well for Ireland with Hugh Gavin scoring an early try, but Georgia quickly closed the gap with two penalties before the break. Georgia then stormed into the second half, taking the lead with a try before Ireland responded with penalties from Sean Naughton and Luka Tsirekidze.

The match was full of impressive performances from players on both sides, showcasing the talent and skill present in the Under-20 World Championship. With this win, Ireland moves closer to advancing in the tournament and will look to carry this momentum into their upcoming games.

In a dramatic conclusion, Treacy secured the win for Ireland with a try in the left-hand corner after a series of phases. The conversion from Jack Murphy sealed the victory for Ireland, leaving Georgia struggling to keep up. Despite being behind at halftime, Ireland showed resilience and determination to come out on top in this closely contested match against Georgia.
