Italians Embrace Tradition: Braving Cold Weather for Spring Long Weekends at Farmhouses and National Destinations.

Italians continue the tradition of building bridges on April 25th, despite negative weather forecasts and the return of cold weather. A survey by Coldiretti/Ixè confirms that one in three Italians (34%) are defying these conditions and opting for trips or short holidays. Most Italians choose national destinations, such as the sea, cities of art, countryside, and mountains. They prefer self-owned homes or those belonging to friends and family, followed by hotels and bed and breakfasts. Farmhouses are also popular, with some already fully booked as Italians seek outdoor experiences and quality food.

The appeal of Italian farmhouses lies in their focus on all-Made in Italy local tourism, emphasizing sustainability in terms of costs, distances, and well-being. As a result, farmhouses offer a variety of activities catering to sports enthusiasts, nostalgics, curiosity seekers, environmentalists, and those interested in cultural experiences like archaeological or naturalistic tours and wellness activities. The success of spring long weekends bodes well for the upcoming summer tourist season, despite concerns related to the challenging international situation. Visitors are drawn to the unique offerings of Italian farmhouses and the opportunity to experience the beauty and culture of the country in an authentic and sustainable way.
