Families make up the majority of those planning a holiday, with 8.7 million people taking part in this year’s festivities. The average holiday duration is 15 days, and travelers are expected to spend an average of €659 per person on their trip.

Tourism is a significant driver for the local economy, with spending totaling €10 billion euros this year. Travelers typically allocate their spending on meals, travel, accommodation, and shopping during their stay. Many travelers prefer staying with relatives or friends when traveling abroad but also opt for hotels or bed and breakfasts if they don’t have family or friends available.

When booking their trips, most travelers prefer to go directly through the facility’s website. During their holidays, activities such as socializing with friends and family will be popular choices among most travelers. Walks along the beach or mountainside trails are also top options for many people, followed by dining out and enjoying drinks at nightclubs or bars.

The majority of travelers will use their own car to reach their destination; however, some may choose planes or trains if they need to get there faster or have farther distances to cover. Those who choose not to go on holiday cite economic reasons as the primary factor, followed by family and health issues.
