Jared Goff’s $212 Million Contract Extension Secures His Future with the Lions

Jared Goff and Lions Reach Contract Extension Deal

In a recent development, Lions General Manager Brad Holmes has expressed confidence in the team’s ability to reach a contract extension agreement with quarterback Jared Goff. The belief that Goff will remain with the Lions has now come to fruition, as he has agreed to an extension that will keep him with the team through 2027, with an option for 2028.

Goff’s contract is reportedly worth $212 million, with $170 million guaranteed, making him one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the league with an average annual value of $53 million. This places him second only to Joe Burrow. Since joining the Lions in 2021, Goff has helped elevate the team to Super Bowl contender status and culminated in a trip to the NFC Championship Game in 2023. In the 2023 season, Goff completed 67 percent of his passes for 4,575 yards, with 30 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

Goff is a three-time Pro Bowler and has a career completion rate of 65 percent, with 30,429 passing yards, 185 touchdowns, and 82 interceptions in just over two seasons as a starter. His record as a starter is impressive at 66 wins against just 50 losses and boasts a passer rating of an impressive 93.6%. The news of Goff’s extension comes after several recent signings by the Lions including extensions for receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and offensive tackle Penei Sewell.
