Jonathan Mingo: Proving His Worth and Improving in the 2024 NFL Season Despite Challenges and Criticism

Jonathan Mingo, Panthers Wide Receiver, Claims: “My route running skills are top-notch”

Carolina Panthers wideout Jonathan Mingo is not one to shy away from a challenge, even after a quiet rookie campaign. In a recent interview with Joe Person of The Athletic, Mingo spoke about his struggles in the 2023 season and how he plans to improve in his second year in the league.

Mingo believes that the criticism he faced for his perceived lack of route-running ability was overblown and that he is a good route runner who can win most of his matchups on the field. While he recorded only 418 receiving yards and no touchdowns last season, Mingo is confident in his abilities and trusts that his performance will improve with more experience.

According to NFL’s Next Gen Stats, Mingo averaged 2.8 yards of separation on his routes, which ranked him tied for 67th among wide receivers and tight ends charted. While some may use this stat to question Mingo’s route-running skills, he remains focused on improving his performance and contributing positively to his team in the upcoming season.

Mingo is not afraid to take risks and make noise this offseason, despite the sweeping changes on the offensive coaching staff and the additions at his position. He is determined to prove that he has what it takes to make an impact on the field and lead the Panthers to success in Year No. 2.
