Kansas City Landing a Spot as Host and Base Camp for 2026 FIFA World Cup: What You Need to Know

Three base camp options for teams during the 2026 World Cup in the Kansas City area

Kansas City has been selected as a host city for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, beating out larger metro areas like Orlando, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C. The City of Fountains is one of nine cities outside of the host cities to have filed to serve as a team base camp during the tournament.

In addition to hosting matches, Kansas City will also serve as a host city and team base camp for the tournament. Along with Dallas, Kansas City will offer three options for teams to use as a base camp during the World Cup. The base camps will serve as hubs for teams to travel to their first three matches and where players, staff, and officials will spend the majority of their time during the group stage.

Teams will formally submit their desired selection for their base camp location in late 2025. Other host cities for the 2026 FIFA World Cup include Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Guadalajara, Houston, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Miami, Monterrey
