Kawhi Leonard recently spoke to the media for the first time in over three weeks, discussing his knee injury that has kept him out of games since March 31. Despite Clippers head coach Ty Lue confirming that Leonard had met all the necessary conditions for his return, the two-time Finals MVP appeared rusty in his performance during Game 2 against the Dallas Mavericks.
Leonard acknowledged his lack of playtime, stating, “This is my first game in 20-something days. I don’t know, I’m not measuring it.” He also emphasized the need for improvement from the team as a whole, starting with himself. When asked about his knee’s condition post-game, Leonard reassured that he was feeling good. His immediate return to gameplay without any prior practice or contact was unexpected for many.
Leonard admitted, “Not really, I’ve just been rehabbing, trying to get on the floor,” regarding his lack of practice with the team. The Clippers must utilize the upcoming three days to improve their performance with Leonard on the court as they aim to avoid falling behind 2-1 in the series against Dallas Mavericks.
