In an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people with one name, the city of Kyle, Texas hosted a mass gathering on Saturday. However, despite 706 Kyles turning up at a park in the suburbs of Austin, the record fell short. The current record is held by a town in Bosnia that gathered 2,325 people named Ivan in 2017.
Last year, Kyle made another attempt to break the world record with an official count of 1,490 attendees at their Gathering of the Kyles event. Despite not achieving success this time around, Kyle continues to strive for a mass gathering of people with one name and remains committed to making it happen in the future.
The name Ivan is more popular than Kyle in the United States, ranking 153rd among male names in 2023 according to the Social Security Administration. While Kyle may not be as well-known as Ivan, it has a special place in Texas history and culture and continues to inspire its residents and visitors alike.
