Lazio is reportedly leading the race for Manchester United’s 22-year-old winger, Mason Greenwood. The Italian club has reached out to United in a bid to sign the young player, who is no longer needed at Old Trafford.
Greenwood spent last season on loan at Getafe in Spain, where he scored eight goals in 33 La Liga matches. Despite an initial rejection from United on an offer of €20M plus a 50% share in any future sale, Lazio remains persistent in their pursuit of the player.
Manchester United currently values Greenwood at €30M, which may be too high for Lazio to afford. However, transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Lazio has taken the lead in negotiations over Serie A rivals Juventus by reaching out to United to secure a deal for Greenwood.
Juventus is also said to be interested in the young player, but it appears that Lazio is making a strong effort to secure his services for the upcoming season. With Felipe Anderson leaving this summer after six years with Lazio, the club is seeking a replacement and Greenwood could be just what they need.
As talks progress between Manchester United and Lazio over Greenwood’s transfer, one thing is clear: the young winger is highly sought after and will likely have multiple suitors vying for his signature before the summer transfer window closes.
