Lions Match Brock Wright’s Restricted Free Agent Offer, Securing Tight End Talent for Upcoming Seasons

Lions exercise matching rights on 49ers’ offer sheet for Brock Wright

The Lions have announced that they will match the restricted free agent offer sheet that tight end Brock Wright signed with the 49ers. This means that Wright will not have to adjust to a new offensive scheme ahead of the 2024 season.

Wright has played in 41 games for the Lions over the last three seasons, recording 43 catches for 424 yards and seven touchdowns. He will continue to team up with Sam LaPorta as the top tight ends in Tennessee.

The deal is reportedly a three-year contract worth $12 million, with $6 million guaranteed. This is a significant increase from the Lions’ original restricted free agent tender of $2.985 million. The Lions believe that matching the offer is in their best interest and will help them maintain a strong tight end position for years to come.
