LSU Lands Top Defensive Tackle Zion Williams, Boosts Recruiting Class and Strengthens Defense

LSU secures commitment from highly rated defensive tackle Zion Williams

LSU’s recruiting class received a significant boost on July 4th with the commitment of Class of 2025 four-star defensive tackle Zion Williams from Lufkin, Texas. The announcement of his pledge to the Tigers brought literal and figurative fireworks to the day, as Williams is ranked as the No. 20 defensive tackle in his class.

Despite having offers from top programs like Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Texas A&M, USC, Florida, TCU, and Arkansas, Williams ultimately chose LSU. With this commitment, he becomes the latest addition to a strong LSU recruiting class that now has 13 commitments. All but one of these commitments are four-star prospects or higher, making it clear that LSU is attracting some of the best talent in the country.

The Tigers’ recruiting class is currently ranked at No. 11 in the Recruiting Team Rankings despite having the fewest commitments among the top-11 teams. However, with Williams’ commitment joining fellow defensive lineman LaJesse Harrold and other talented players on board, LSU’s defense is sure to be strengthened for years to come.

Williams stands at 6-foot-4 and weighs in at 330 pounds. His addition to the team will provide much-needed depth on defense and help solidify LSU’s position as a top program in college football. As more commitments come in over time, it will be interesting to see how this recruiting class shapes up for coach Ed Orgeron and his staff at LSU.
