On Monday, a man from Brighton accidentally shot himself in the buttocks while adjusting his pants at the Legacy Center Sports Complex on Goble Drive in Green Oak Township, MI. The incident occurred during a loud boom that caught the attention of local authorities.
The 56-year-old man was taken to a local hospital for treatment and fortunately, no one else was injured during the incident. The officials at the complex emphasized that it is a gun-free campus and they take the matter very seriously, cooperating with authorities in the investigation.
The complex’s social media page released a statement expressing their commitment to providing a safe environment for athletes to enjoy sports without the threat of gun violence. The incident is under investigation by the Green Oak Township police, with assistance from the Green Oak Township Fire Department, Livingston County Ambulance, and Livingston County Central Dispatch.
