Microsoft Employee Satisfaction Plummets in Latest Survey: Company to Implement Performance-Based Raises Amidst Industry Layoffs

A Decreasing Number of Microsoft Employees Believe They’re Getting a ‘Good Deal’

A recent survey called “Employee Signals” by Business Insider has revealed that fewer Microsoft employees feel they are getting a “good deal” from working at the company, according to a report. In the survey, only 62% of employees responded positively to the question about whether they were satisfied with the balance between their contributions to Microsoft and what they receive in return. This is down from 69% in the previous year’s survey.

Microsoft takes this question seriously as it helps them gauge employee sentiment on work-life balance and compensation. In 2022, a low score on this question led to Microsoft implementing significant pay raises across its workforce to address growing dissatisfaction and prevent employees from leaving for competitors like Amazon. However, these raises were followed by layoffs in the industry, and by 2023, Microsoft decided to stop salary increases and reduce bonuses and stock awards.

To address this issue, Microsoft is planning to restart performance-based raises for some employees during this year’s review cycle.
