MTSU’s new Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Technology concentration, part of the B.S. in Aerospace degree program, is a game-changer as it is the first of its kind in the state and one of only a few programs in the United States. This innovative concentration aims to provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in the rapidly growing field of unmanned aircraft systems, which are set to play a major role in the future of aviation worldwide.

Students enrolled in this program will have hands-on courses that focus on building and flying unmanned aircraft systems, as well as core aerospace courses. They will also collaborate with industry partners on real-world projects, providing them with valuable experience and connections in the field. The curriculum includes interdisciplinary coursework in areas such as electricity principles, computer science, data science, and geographic information systems (GIS).

Upon graduation, students will be well-equipped to pursue careers in a wide range of industries including agriculture, public safety, photography, media and disaster response/management. Many others industries like power industry and defense also need professionals with UAS technology skills.
