The fifth round of the 2024 XC World Cup season was held at Crans Montant, marking its debut hosting the series. The event was characterized by exciting racing and challenging conditions, with wet weather adding an extra layer of difficulty for riders throughout the week.

In the women’s race, Loana Lecomte stood out in the muddy conditions, clinching her tenth World Cup victory with a dominating performance. She left her competitors behind as she navigated the course, setting herself up as a strong contender for the upcoming Paris Olympics. Alessandra Keller made an effort to close the gap but ultimately settled for second place, 46 seconds behind Lecomte. Puck Pieterse, who won the XCC Short Track, finished in third place, 1:33 behind the leader.

On the men’s side, Tom Pidcock shone in his race, securing another XCO victory and maintaining his unbeaten record in XCO races this season. With the Tour de France on the horizon, Pidcock’s impressive performance solidifies his status as a rider to watch at the Olympics. Mathias Flückiger, who has earned a spot on the Swiss Olympic team, finished just over a minute behind Pidcock. Luca Braidot edged past Nino Schurter in a sprint to claim third place.
