Multi-talented Maurice Redhorn III Signs to Compete in Basketball and Rodeo at MSU-Northern

MSU-Northern recruits Browning’s Redhorn III for dual-sport commitment

Maurice Redhorn III, a talented team roper and leading scorer for the Browning Indians in basketball for the past two seasons, has recently signed to compete in both basketball and rodeo at MSU-Northern. The school, part of the Frontier Conference, made the announcement on Tuesday. On the basketball court, Maurice has earned the title of co-Most Valuable Player for the Northwest A twice, while in the rodeo arena, he has been a state high school rodeo qualifier for the past two years.

MSU-Northern basketball coach Shawn Huse expressed his excitement about having Maurice on the team in a statement released by the school. He praised Maurice’s great attitude, responsibility, maturity, toughness, and strong work ethic. According to Huse, MSU-Northern is a perfect fit for Maurice considering his diverse interests in both basketball and rodeo.

Redhorn shared his thoughts on choosing MSU-Northern, stating that it has always been a dream for him to play collegiate sports, particularly in the basketball program. He was drawn to the school because the coaches were supportive of his decision to pursue both sports that he loves. Throughout his college search, MSU-Northern stood out to him as a top choice. Standing at 6-foot-1, Redhorn played a key role in leading Browning to the State A tournament in March. He averaged 19.2 points and 4.9 rebounds in the regular season, following earlier impressive performances with 16.6 points and 5 rebounds as a junior and 11.3 points and 4.1 rebounds as a sophomore.
