Muncy’s Nolah Moyer and Taylor Shannon led their team to a 13-0 victory over Bucktail, securing Muncy’s second consecutive Mid-Penn championship. This win was made possible by Moyer’s one-hit shutout, in which she went 3 for 3 at bat and hit a home run. Shannon also had an outstanding game, going 3 for 3 with two home runs and five RBIs.
Moyer reached over 200 strikeouts for the season and recorded her 15th shutout. She started the game with a two-run home run in the first inning, setting the tone for the rest of the game. In the second inning, Moyer delivered a two-RBI single to extend Muncy’s lead to 3-0. Shannon added a three-run home run to make it 8-0, securing the win for Muncy. Bucktail’s Gianna Balchun broke up Moyer’s no-hit bid in the fifth inning.
Muncy finished with an undefeated record of 17-0, going 11-0 in the league. Casey Fry and Kaylyn Rice contributed with doubles for Muncy, with Rice driving in a run and Fry scoring three times. The final score of the game was 13-0 in favor of Muncy after five innings of play.
The dominant offense and stellar pitching by Moyer proved too much for Bucktail to handle, solidifying Muncy’s position as a top contender in the league. They will look to maintain their unbeaten record as they head into the home stretch of the season, facing Mifflinburg at home next time out while Bucktail will play Jersey Shore in Farwell.
