NASCAR Power Rankings: Tumultuous Races Lead to Shake-Up in Rankings

NBC Sports’ NASCAR Power Rankings leading up to the Chicago race

Last weekend at Nashville Superspeedway, chaos erupted on the track, causing a shake-up in the NASCAR Power Rankings. Despite winning both stages and leading the most laps at Nashville, Christopher Bell maintained his position at No. 1, after crashing in traffic.

Chris Buescher secured another top-five finish and entered the rankings this week, following in Bell’s footsteps. Kyle Larson followed closely behind in the rankings, achieving six top 10 finishes in his last eight starts, including two wins and a runner-up result. Tyler Reddick finished third at Nashville but expressed frustration at not being able to overtake Joey Logano for the win. He has still managed five top 10 finishes in the last six races.

Chase Elliott continued his streak of top 20 finishes, while Denny Hamlin faced challenges in overtime that led to a 12th place finish. Ryan Blaney’s sixth-place finish secured him a spot in the top 10 rankings this week, along with newcomer Chris Buescher who has scored back-to-back fifth-place finishes. Brad Keselowski finished 25th after a wreck and William Byron rounded out the top 10 rankings for this week. Josh Berry dropped out of the rankings following the latest races.

The NASCAR series will be racing on the streets of Chicago this Sunday (4:30 p.m. ET on NBC). Fans can tune in to see how these drivers fare as they compete for victory on one of NASCAR’s most iconic tracks.
