Cleveland Cavaliers Projected to Choose Guard in CBS Sports NBA Mock Draft

As the NBA Draft of 2024 approaches, the Cleveland Cavaliers are preparing to make their first pick. Holding the 20th overall selection in the first round, they have been considering various options to strengthen both their frontcourt and backcourt. One recent mock draft from CBS Sports predicts that the Cavaliers will choose Johnny Furphy, a guard from the University of Kansas.

Furphy had a successful freshman season with the Jayhawks, averaging 9.0 points, 4.9 rebounds, one assist, and 0.9 steals per game. He was also the team leader in three-pointers made, shooting 35.2% from beyond the arc. Furphy’s performance earned him recognition as he was named All-Big 12 Honorable Mention and to the Big 12 All-Freshman Team for the 2023-24 season. In the NCAA Tournament, he started in both of Kansas’ games and averaged 12.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, two assists and one steal per game while shooting 33.3% from three-point range as his team advanced to Round of 32
