Joe Montemurro, who has previously managed top teams like Juventus and Arsenal women’s team, is set to take over as head coach of Olympique Lyonnais Féminin. The French club recently parted ways with Sonia Bompastor, who moved to Chelsea. Montemurro signed a two-year deal with the team and will begin his tenure on July 4th.
In a statement to the media, Montemurro expressed his excitement about joining the club and stated, “I am extremely honoured to be part of such an exceptional organization as Olympique Lyonnais, the world leader in women’s football. When I think of Lyon, I think of high level professionalism and excellence. Facing this team always represented the pinnacle of football for me. It has always brought me joy and inspiration.”
Montemurro’s experience and success at top clubs make him a valuable addition to the team. He is set to bring a new perspective and strategy to Lyon as they look to reclaim their position as one of the best women’s football clubs in the world.
