Encinitas firefighters are excited to announce the acquisition of new rescue equipment that will help them save lives more efficiently. The equipment includes a regular and thermal camera, as well as a PA system, all in one compact drone.
According to Encinitas Fire Chief Josh Gordon, the drones will be used for both land and sea rescues, providing firefighters with the ability to see clearly in situations where they might not have visibility before. The thermal imaging cameras on the drones will enable firefighters to locate victims more quickly and efficiently.
The larger drone recently received by the department has already proven beneficial in rescue situations this year, allowing firefighters to quickly locate victims in rollover traffic accidents where they were ejected from the vehicle. This new equipment will greatly enhance the department’s ability to carry out successful rescues.
Training is currently underway for most of the fire department staff to operate the drones effectively, which will enable a quicker response time in emergency situations. Gordon expressed his confidence in the new equipment, stating that it will greatly enhance the department’s ability to save lives.
