Grand Opening Celebration of the Health Science Center at Southwest High School

The Southwest High School in El Centro, California recently celebrated the grand opening of its Southwest Health Science Center. This event, which took place on May 16th, marked a significant opportunity for students and the future of healthcare education, according to the Central Union High School District (CUHSD).

During the ceremony, Dr. Diana E. Ramos, California Surgeon General, cut the ribbon and engaged with students enrolled in the Career Technical Education: Health Science and Medical Technology pathways. Dr. Ramos encouraged students to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the new center.

The Southwest Academy for Careers in Health Sciences Coordinator and Career Technical Education teacher, Mrs. Jackie Valadez, highlighted the importance of having robust training facilities like the Southwest Health Science Center in communities like Imperial Valley. Students like Rosa Rubio expressed their excitement about the new facility and noted that it provides hands-on training and real-world experiences for those who are hands-on learners.

The Health Science Center at Southwest High School serves students enrolled in Career Technical Education: Health Science and Medical Technology courses. The new facility offers a healthcare setting for students to gain practical experience and enhance their learning as they prepare for future careers in healthcare.
