New Interim Vice President for Research at ESF: Dr. Lindi Quackenbush Drives Expansion in Research Programs

SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry promotes Lindi Quackenbush

Dr. Lindi Quackenbush has been appointed as the interim vice president for research at the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF). In this new role, she will lead, promote, and drive research programs at ESF. Over the past two years, the research programs have expanded to include faculty clusters in areas such as bioeconomy, indigenous environmental science, terrestrial ecosystem restoration, water science, urban sustainability and there are plans for additional faculty clusters in data science and nanomaterials science.

Dr. Quackenbush is a professor in the Department of Environmental Resources Engineering (ERE) at ESF and has been teaching there for over 25 years. She has been the department chair since 2018. Her research interests include image processing and remote sensing applications in various areas such as forestry, urban management, and water quality monitoring. She earned her Ph.D. and M.S degrees in remote sensing and image processing from ESF.

Dr. John Stella, who was previously the vice president for research at ESF is transitioning out of the role and returning to a faculty position within the Department of Sustainable Resources Management (SRM). Dr. Quackenbush will be taking on the interim role as Stella transitions out of his previous position.
