As a family medicine physician and former president of Main Line Health’s Care, Eric Mankin oversaw 500 physicians and over 200 advanced practice providers in the Philadelphia western suburbs. He held this position since 2013, after previously serving as the chief medical officer for Temple Health physician’s group. On June 30, Mankin stepped down from his leadership role but will continue to practice as a primary care physician at the Main Line HealthCare practice in Newtown Square.
Amidst these changes in leadership, other recent transitions have taken place at Main Line Health, a nonprofit system that owns four hospitals. Brian Corbett, who had been the system’s general counsel since 2001, announced his retirement last month and will be succeeded by his deputy, Della Payne, after a transition period. Leigh Ehrlich replaced Mike Buongiorno as the chief financial officer of the system following Buongiorno’s retirement after 25 years of service.
Despite these changes in leadership, Main Line Health has shown an improvement in its financial performance, reporting a $50 million operating loss for the nine months ending on March 31 compared to a $114 million loss during the same period the year prior. Donald Klingen has taken over as interim president of the primary care network in Mankin’s absence while continuing to serve as family physician and chief medical information officer.
