New York City Celebrates Small Business Month with Expo and ‘Shop Your City’ Campaign

Free Small Business Expo Coming to New York City

The Adams administration is celebrating National Small Business Month in a big way by hosting a special event to support small businesses in the city. The Small Business Month Expo, organized by the Department of Small Business Services, will take place on May 29 at Pier 36 in downtown Manhattan. This expo aims to provide valuable assistance to small business owners from various industries by connecting them with city agencies, accessing legal and financial resources, and navigating through license and permit procedures.

Kevin Kim, Commissioner of the Department of Small Business Services, shared more details about the expo during an appearance on “Mornings On 1” Thursday. Attendees will have access to all the free resources that New York City has to offer to support small businesses. Whether individuals are just starting their business, already running one or hoping to grow their business, they will find valuable assistance at the expo. Kim also mentioned that representatives from 40 sister agencies will be present to discuss government contracting opportunities.

In addition to the expo, a new advertising campaign with the slogan “Shop Your City” is set to launch to encourage New Yorkers to support small businesses. Kim also highlighted the existing support available to small business owners through the New York City Business Express Service Team. Over the past two years, this team has helped over 5,000 businesses save $31 million by cutting red tape and expediting the process of opening a business. Kim emphasized that their team can assist in opening a business in half the time it would typically take.
